WASHINGTON and TYSONS CORNER, VIRGINIA, January 24, 2017 - BNY Mellon Wealth Management, the eighth largest U.S. wealth manager according to Barron’s, opened its first Northern Virginia location on January 24 with a 4000-square-foot office in Tysons Tower. In addition, it has hired two new professionals to join a five-member team based here. Virginia residents Tom Troxell joins as a wealth director and Rohit Punyani serves as a wealth manager. The Tysons team reports to Washington Regional President Susan Traver.
BNY Mellon Wealth Management is the only global wealth firm to open its doors here. “Northern Virginia is a key wealth market and our experienced team in Tysons enables us to better serve current clients and grow our client base throughout the region. We’re starting with five professionals and intend to add eight more as we grow over the next couple of years,” Traver said. “We’re looking forward to being part of Tysons’ continuing evolution as a vibrant commercial and cultural center, and already have some good partnerships with local business groups, like the NoVa Chamber of Commerce,” she said.
Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Punyani served as a relationship manager with West Financial Services in McLean, Virginia, and as chief investment officer for Pagnato Karp, a multi-family office. Previously he served as a senior portfolio officer with Wilmington Trust. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Colby College and his MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Troxell previously served as CEO of Grace Thomas Designs. Prior to that he served for seven years as regional market manager for private banking at Citibank Private Bank where he led a team of 40 professionals serving high net worth individuals. From 1997 to 2007 he was managing director for client acquisition with Wachovia Wealth Management in southern Connecticut and suburban New York. He earned his bachelor’s in economics and business from Lafayette College, and his MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
The Tysons office also includes Wealth Directors Ben Rodgers and Camille Alexander and Mortgage Banker Bob Dail. Traver will divide her time between Tysons and the firm’s downtown D.C. office.
